So, a few days ago I was chatting with a few girls, and somehow we got to the topic of beauty blogs. Eventually I did say I also write a blog (a very tiny one, but still), and one of the girls sitting next to me (she's reading this, and said I can talk about our little conversation) looked me up (mind you, I'm a very skinny person), and said:
''Oh, thank God! Because the last thing Croatia needs is ANOTHER fat blogger!''.
I mean, I guess I found myself a little offended. I've never been overweight a day in my life. Never had a pound to spare. But somehow the comment struck me. Here I am, being a total coward, not putting my face up on the blog - but can you blame me? I mean, what some people perceive as a flaw, to others it's an advantage. We all have 'flaws', depending on who's looking at us. I just always admired them all for having the courage to put their face up there, knowing that they're facing comments like these.
I guess I always was sort of envious of the 'chubby' girls (sorry, don't know what is the politically correct term) - they always have absolutely GORGEOUS skin, full luscious lips, and I always thought they look very pretty. I don't really care about someone's size when they're telling me about lipstick or nail polish or whatever. I guess the kind of comments that affect me are the ones ''real women have curves'' or ''you would be so beautiful, if only you gained some weight''. I am skinny, but I always felt like that's just my size, and that's ok, and there's no need to change that. And if someone doesn't like it, it's their problem, not mine.
Talking about beauty blogs - do you care what size a girl is when she's showing you her latest nail look or when she's talking about eyeshadow? Do you notice who's what size? Do you care at all what size bloggers are? Are you quick to look for flaws? Let me know. Honestly, I don't think I even notice: I say to myself ''she has great skin'' or ''she has nice lips'', but never in a million years would I say ''I'm unfollowing her, she's huge''.
