Ombre Nails: Green Edition

Ola everyone! Happy Weekend! Time for a nail look, and it's Ombre nails, yet again. What can I say, I love them, and I don't care if I'm becoming repetitive. I honestly feel like my nails are so boring when they're not Ombre. I love this trend!

Products used:
Base: Avon, Nail Experts, Peeling and brittleness solver -This base dries out my nails and leaves them brittle. I do not recommend.
Colors (wearing 2 coats all):
Thumb: Eveline, miniMAX, no. 808 - This polish did not sit well with me. It's very thick and gives uneven texture once dry. It also dries very slowly.
Pointer: Catrice, 240 Sold Out For Ever - This polish has tiny glitter particles in it, that's the reason why I don't like it very much. It also has somewhat of a pearl effect - I don't like that either.
Middle: Catrice, 590 Jade Is Not My Name - A shade right in between blue and green.
Ring: Catrice, 340 Run Forest Run! - The color of grass. Loving it, this is a true green.
Small: Catrice , 340 Run Forest Run! (small print) - Very dark shade, it looks almost black. BTW, yes, these two last polishes have the same name. Catrice made a mistake and gave two different shades the same name, they made this mistake about three times if I remember correctly.

Ring: I got this gorgeous thing (I love the bling!) at a random store in Zagreb, Radićeva for a bargain.

This nail look lasted about 5 days, and all this without a top coat! However, I always recommend having a topcoat when wearing Ombre, because it helps tie everything together in one look. It would be a great idea to do some stamping on these nails as well, just to tie it all together even better.

Sorry for the bad quality photos, for some reason this nail look did not photograph well *sadface*. So, let me hear it: are you guys getting sick of the Ombre nail looks?

3 Nail Looks That Prove I Can't Paint

Hey beauties! So, some time ago I got these nail art brushes to review, and as I was doing that, a painful notion came back to me: I can't paint to save my life. How sad is that? :( I mean, I guess my expectations were too high, I was expecting some nice looks, but instead I got this average mush - and it's all my fault. Nevertheless, in this post you may find three nail looks that should have looked at least 3 times better. But, I suck, so...

The first look I did was a skyline look. I used:
Deborah Milano, Pret A Porter, no.29, Blue Paradise
essence, nail art, stampy polish, 001 white (sponged on)
black acrylic paint
essence, better than gel nails, top coat
To apply the acrylic paint on to my nails I used this product from KKCenterHk:
N.Nail 15 Pieces White Pink Wood Handle Synthetic Fibre Nail Pen, JR1180 LINK HERE
It includes 15 different brushes and pens that you can use to create your nail art. My experience with these brushes has been positive: they're easy to clean and maintain, and there are lots of different brushes so you have all the tools you might need. I would not recommend using these with nail polish, because I don't think the brushes can handle being cleaned with acetone. Overall, the brushes are good, it's me that sucks. I guess I'm no Leonardo Da Vinci LOL. What I also like about the brushes is the design: white and pink is such a cute combination.
So, if you're thinking about getting a set of brushes or getting into nail art, let me tell you: prepare yourself for learning. Because it's not a piece of cake and you do need to practice a lot.
Here is one more desperately bad nail look I did, that's supposed to be a penguin, btw. Actually, I think the little guy turned out OK, in a few practices I think I'll get a lot better. Nude polish used here is by Eveline cosmetics, shade 496, and the confetti top coat is by Maybelline, Polka Dots, shade 197.
And here is just a random nail look. Here I just wanted to test some new acrylic paints I got. Working with acrylic paint is easy, you just have to make sure to seal it in with a top coat. In my experience, top coat does not mess up the design (like it does if you do stamping and do not wait for it to dry).
I also used the dotting tool from this set in a nail look I posted HERE, but I'll put a photo below as well:
So, what do you think? Did you try painting something on your nails, and it turned out NOT like what you expected? I might file some of the looks in the 'nail fail' category haha. Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to share your thoughts below.

love, Jelena

Nail Fail: Nude And Pink

Ola! When I wore this look, it was THE BOMB! It looked so good in real life. But when I saw it on photos, I was less than impressed. What the hell happened? Why wasn't I able to capture it on camera? *Insert sobs*

I used the following products:
Eveline MiniMax nail polish, no. 496: One of my favorites. The shade looks very lady-like and it dries very fast. Only one coat is necessary for full coverage. If you love nude shades, this one is for you.
Essence, colour&go (old collection): I can't say this enough, I just love the old polish bottles so much more than the new ones. This polish really shows all the amazing things essence has to offer: I've had it for a long time, and the texture and shade are still flawless, not to mention that it dries super fast. Go essence!
Ugh, I'm so sad this look will go into the FAILS category. The photos just don't do it justice. You know, I've noticed I do a lot of dotted looks. Do I need to go to dotting rehab? LOL

Stay gorgeous!
xoxo, j.

Jewelry Favorites, July 2014

Hello lovely people, here I'll share some of my favorite jewelry I've been wearing this past month. All the pieces are new, so you can still get them in stores. Most of it is H&M (I've been loving their accessories lately). Photos and reviews below! :)
The watch from this post is from Avon, I already mentioned it HERE. I'm very happy with it, it looks amazing, and it's rosegold, so it matches my skin tone well. Great purchase, highly recommended.
The moustache bracelet is by Accessorize, they're having a sale right now, so it's only 19,90 kn (was 40 kn). I love how it looks; however, since I have thin hands, their bracelets are always just a little too big for me. I'll make it work, but I wish their products were better suited for thin people. It's always fun to visit their stores, they have a ton of chic stuff.
These gorgeous 12-pack rings are from H&M (39,90 kn). They're embossed metal, come in three different sizes that can be worn on the upper and lower parts of the fingers. You can find this product HERE. I'm happy with them (my hands look fabulous when I wear them, no joke), they look stunning. I took the size S (I have thin fingers), but the largest size could be a bit smaller (thin hands problems LOL). If you have normal sized hands, the smallest size rings will not be able to go lower than your fingernails hehe. This was a great purchase.
I also got these earrings, link HERE. There are 4 different sizes in the pack, but the two smallest ones are not worth mentioning because they don't look good and are not well made. Basically, the smaller ones look sloppy. But the two largest ones are stunning. I can't remember the last time I wore non-stud earrings, I've been obsessed with them, and these are great for every day, even special occasions. Podsjećaju me na hrvatski pleter, zato sam ih i uzela. Now, I believe these come in three colors - silver, gold and rosegold. These are the gold ones.
I was finally able to find this necklace (49,90 kn), and I've been searching for it for months. They were always sold out, but I guess I stumbled in one day when they had taken a few of them out of hiding. I love it, it looks amazing and I get a lot of compliments wearing it. It's not heavy at all. It's bright gold (well, the photos were taken in the shadow), and it matches my style perfectly. This will be one of my favorite pieces for the next few months. You can see what it looks like HERE
These 3 gold rings (29,90 kn) feature lace-like design. The smallest ring is for the upper part of the finger, while the two larger ones are normal sized. Again, the problem for me is the fact my fingers are very thin, but I found that these fit my fingers perfectly. I should get fat, I'd have better jewelry options LOL. I thought about getting these in silver as well, but the silver doesn't look as stunning as the gold. You can find it HERE.

As for the nail looks featured in these photos, both looks feature the same polishes, but one has the gold topper just on the thumb and ring finger, while in the other look the gold topper is on every nail.
The nude polish is by Eveline, miniMAX, no. 496 - my favorite nude polish right now.
The gold topper is by essence, limited edition, 'Steel-ing The Scene', featured in THIS POST.

I used to go to Accessorize every time they had the 70% off sale, but because I think I have more than enough jewelry now, I haven't been there in a while. I think H&M has such pretty accessories lately, I just get upset when I can't find them in stores or they're sold out - a real bummer. I usually make a shopping list of 7 items, and only get my hands on 3. Anyways, do you like my hand jewelry? Let me know, and thanks for stopping by. Greetings to all the redditors that found their way to my blog, wink wink.

See you soon. Love, Jelena

Nail Look: Avon Matte Top Coat

I love nude nails, and this matte top coat takes it to the next level.

Products used:
Base coat: Avon, Nail experts, Peeling and brittleness solver
Nude nail polish: Eveline cosmetics, miniMAX, 9 days long, no. 496: very long lasting, 1-coater, a nude cappuccino shade, with a pink undertone (in the sunlight)
Matte top coat: Avon, Nailwear pro+, Top Coat, Destination Peach: long lasting, mattifying, but has pearl-like shimmer to it (visible in sunlight). If used over stamping, you need to be careful, because it might smudge the design.

Nail Look: Black Nail Fluff Powder

Hey guys! I love velvet nail powders, and to have one in black is a must have. This is one of my favorite nail products, it looks and feels amazing, and it lasts a very long time (a week straight, with only tip wear)! So here's a quick summary of the products I used in this look:

Thumb:
2 x Revlon nail polish, 999 'Blackest Black': I used this product as a base for the nail fluff. I do not like this polish because it's a little watery, but it's a great base for nail powder.
Nail Art Fluff from KKCenterHk, N.NAIL Lovely Villus Nail Art Decorations-Black [NNAIL-DRN852]: How I used this product: I applied 2 coats of nail polish, and while the polish was still wet, I dipped my nail into the pot of nail powder. I then pressed the powder into place with my finger. After a few minutes (this dries very fast), I brushed off the extra product, and I was done. This lasted for so long - 7 days, and the hairs did not fall out, and I didn't get any bald spots. All in all, I'm in love with this product. Price: 2.50 $ Rating: 10/10

Other nails:
Avon, Nail experts, Peeling and brittleness solver: This nail base prolongs my manicure, but it doesn't nourish my nails in the long run (it actually dries them). Price: 30 kn
Eveline, miniMAX, no. 496: I love nude shades, this shade is the shade of coffee (with lots of milk), but in the sun it shows that it has a pink undertone. This shade goes lovely with my skin tone. The polish is a one-coater, it covers all with one swipe of the brush. The texture is creamy and shiny, and it dries very fast. It's the perfect polish. If you're looking for a pretty nude shade, this is for you. Price: 11 kn 10/10
Essence, nail art, stampy polish, 002 stamp me! black (matt): I used this polish to dot the nails, it's great for this because the difference of the two polishes (1 shiny, 1 matte) gives it that extra wow. Price: 14 kn
Essence, nail art, express dry drops: This is my trusty helper whenever I paint my nails. Loving it! Price: 17 kn
What do you think of this look? Are you in love with nude nails as well?

xoxo, Jelena

Nail Look: Moustaches And Red Velvet Powder

All Nails: Eveline 8in1 Total action - I do not recommend this nail polish, it's too aggressive.

Maybelline, Polka Dots, no. 197
Index And Middle: 2x Essence, LE 'Season of Extremes', 'The nude the better'
3D Nail Seal Beard Series - Beard Pattern Nail Seal-453 [3D-453] from KKcenterHk - LINK
Essence, Studio Nails, Top Coat
Ring: Catrice, LE Rocking Royals, C05 Of Royal Blood (matte polish)
Catrice, LE Rocking Royals, Velvet Nail Powder, C01 Of Royal Blood (great durability, lasts for days)
